Our Council

Bridging Communities, Building Peace.

The Irish Muslim Council, formerly known as the Irish Muslim Peace and Integration Council, was established in 2015 to bring Muslim communities across Ireland together and address matters affecting their lives, well-being and participation in society.

Independent and non-sectarian, the Council works to represent Muslim interests, strengthen cooperation among mosques, organisations and individuals, and provide a constructive platform for engagement with government, public institutions and wider Irish society.

Our work extends beyond representation. We promote mutual understanding, equality, positive integration and social cohesion, while sharing knowledge about Islam and its values through open dialogue, education and constructive engagement.

We believe that strong Muslim communities and a more inclusive Ireland go hand in hand. Through collaboration, informed guidance and a commitment to the common good, we seek to ensure that Muslim communities can contribute fully to Ireland’s social, civic and public life.

Independent

Operating independently of any single organisation, group or faction, while representing Muslim interests with integrity and a commitment to the common good.

Non-sectarian

Bringing Muslims together across traditions and backgrounds, complementing existing community initiatives and fostering cooperation rather than division.

Inclusive and representative

Recognising the diversity of Muslim communities across Ireland and ensuring that different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are heard and respected.

Consultative and democratic

Promoting participation, consultation and collective decision-making, building consensus through cooperation among Muslim communities across the island of Ireland.

Our Commitment

Committed to the common good of society as a whole.

We encourage individual Muslims and Muslim organisations to play a full and participatory role in Irish public life, to integrate effectively, and to contribute to the country they call home. Our work is grounded in consultation and cooperation across the whole community.

The Irish Muslim Council exists to bring Muslim communities together, represent their interests fairly, and strengthen engagement with government, public institutions and wider Irish society. We believe that strong communities are built through cooperation, trust and constructive dialogue. Our role is not to replace the valuable work of mosques, organisations or individuals, but to support their efforts, amplify shared concerns and provide a platform for meaningful collaboration. We are committed to an Ireland where Muslims can contribute fully to public life and where mutual understanding, equality and solidarity benefit everyone. Together, we can build a more united Muslim community and a more inclusive Ireland.
