In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Dear friends of the Catholic faith community,

It is with profound sadness that we have learned of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. On behalf of the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council and the Islamic Centre of Ireland, I extend our heartfelt condolences and share in your grief during this sorrowful time.

Pope Francis was a beacon of peace, compassion, and unity. His tireless calls for dialogue, justice, and love for one’s neighbour inspired millions around the world, transcending faith and background. His humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the marginalised and vulnerable made him a guiding light for humanity. His departure is a profound loss not only for the Catholic Church but for all who strive for a more just and compassionate world.

We remember with deep gratitude his historic efforts in fostering interfaith harmony and his message of solidarity, which resonated with people of all beliefs. His leadership in promoting understanding and cooperation among religions has left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

In this moment of mourning, we stand in solidarity with our Catholic brothers and sisters. May his legacy of mercy, reconciliation, and bridge-building live on through our shared commitment to peace and mutual respect.

With sincere sympathy and prayers,

Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri
