The Irish Muslim Council works to represent Muslim communities, address the challenges affecting their lives, and strengthen their participation in Irish society. Through advocacy, dialogue, education and collaboration, we engage with government, public institutions, civil society and communities to promote equality, mutual understanding, peace and social cohesion.

Interfaith Dialogue

Building understanding across faiths and beliefs

We foster constructive relationships between Muslim communities, other faith communities and people of no faith. Through dialogue, shared initiatives and mutual cooperation, we challenge misconceptions, deepen understanding and build lasting relationships grounded in respect and our common humanity.

ADVOCACY & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

Representing Muslim interests and perspectives

We engage with government, public institutions and civil society on issues affecting Muslims in Ireland, including religious freedom, equality, education, integration and community safety. We bring community perspectives into public discussions, contribute to policy development and work towards practical solutions that benefit Muslims and wider Irish society.

Anti-Racism & Tackling Islamophobia

Challenging prejudice and protecting dignity

We challenge Islamophobia, anti-Muslim hatred, racism and discrimination through advocacy, public engagement, education and cooperation with An Garda Síochána and relevant public bodies. We promote the safety, dignity and equal treatment of Muslims, including efforts to address concerns about mosque security and the safety of Muslim communities.

BRIDGE-BUILDING & PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Creating opportunities to connect and contribute

We encourage meaningful engagement between Muslim communities and wider Irish society. Through public events, open days, cultural initiatives and partnerships, we create opportunities for people to meet, learn from one another and participate in shared civic life. We believe lasting relationships are built through personal contact, cooperation and a shared commitment to Ireland’s future.

COMMUNITY COHESION & SOLIDARITY

Working towards a society where everyone belongs

We promote a society in which people of different backgrounds can live together with dignity, equality and mutual respect. By addressing division, sectarianism, extremism and social exclusion, we encourage cooperation, responsible participation and solidarity. Our aim is to strengthen Muslim communities and the wider society of which they are an integral part.

RESEARCH, EDUCATION & GUIDANCE

Informed perspectives for a better understanding

We contribute to a more informed understanding of Islam and Muslim life in Ireland through research, publications, educational resources and public engagement. By sharing knowledge and providing informed perspectives on issues affecting Muslim communities, we seek to support constructive dialogue, challenge misinformation and assist decision-makers, educators, media and the wider public.
