The Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Manchester Arena, United Kingdom. The attack killed 22 innocent people and wounded more than 120.

Our sympathies and prayers are with the people of the United Kingdom and all those affected.  May God grant us all the ability to stand united with Love & Compassion in the face of this terror & eradicate this fanaticism.
Such attacks and violence against innocent people can never be justified under any circumstances.

Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri, Chair of IMPIC, also said that the perpetrators of terrorism aim to sow seeds of discord and divisiveness . We cannot allow hatred to divide us.  At this time we will see those on the extremes using this as an opportunity to divide society further, to fuel hate, fear and prejudice. Our strength is in standing united, to share our grief, to console each other, to move beyond these emotions and build a society which is just, peaceful and fair.

We must clearly send a message to those who want to inject violence, fear and hate into our lives, that you will not win. We will not allow you to be successful.

Shaykh Al-Qadri additionally said that as Muslims we must clean our own backyard by identifying individuals that supports ISIS mentality because is our religious obligation to speak out against extremists and support initiatives that aim to eliminate extremism.

The same night that a so-called Muslim attacked innocent people that gathered to appreciate Art in the Manchester Arena, the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council had organised an event to promote Art in which it had invited Pakistani Sufi Musical Band Khumariyaan to perform. Hundreds of Muslims from Ireland had come together in Trinity College Dublin to attend the event.
